12-15-16 NEWSLETTER UPDATE

Bad News: Due to technical difficulties at the station, this morning’s program (featuring an interview with LSU Basketball coach Johnny Jones and Yellow Jackets Memories with Randy Smith) was not recorded and, thusly, is not airing in the afternoon.

More Bad News: Instead what the station initially aired as a replay was a program from last week… not yesterday’s program as they were supposed to, given an absence of today’s program to replay.

More Bad News: This is not the first or second time that we’ve experienced major technical issues in the recent past.

More Bad News: Invariably, we’re going to experience some more issues of this nature in the coming weeks.

Good News: Although not what you, I or the station wanted, tonight’s replay… once it was changed to the right show (about 5:15pm I think) is still a pretty good show, featuring Brian Abels of Boyer, Hebert, Abels & Angelle and Philadelphia sportscaster Paul Jolovitz.—He and I get into a debate about Thursday Night Football. Because of the late start, I think it will last until 6:15pm.

More Good News: The station feels just as badly as I do about the technical gaffes. Part of it is that they are installing new systems that should make the station better. A much bigger part of it is that this is the first time they’ve ever had a sports-talk show and they are not seasoned veterans in broadcasting. So, they will get better.

More Good News: I’ve been assured that the replay system is now operational and we should now have a morning show and an afternoon replay correspond, starting tomorrow… including Friday’s show (featuring DSHS principal Kelly Jones) and Monday’s show (featuring DSHS Football coach Bill Conides).

The Best News of All: As expressed a number of times on the air and in this newsletter, the people operating Family Radio, 91/9 are people of integrity. They care. They’re intelligent. They work hard. They’re friendly. They want their station to be top-notch. Unfortunately, they’re real new at this. They will get better. I believe this will work itself out. I believe that sometime down the road (2 or 3 or 4 weeks, hopefully sooner), we will have programs that are virtually perfect, technically.

Assurance to sponsors/prospective sponsors and loyal listeners: If my intuition is wrong, and this type of situation still exists in early—mid January, we’ll pull the program. What we are presenting right now is not sustainable, nor viable long-term. I’m hoping and truly believe that we will become sustainable and viable and pulling the program will not be a consideration.

I apologize profusely for any imposition/inconvenience you’ve experienced with this mess. I ask you for your patience.
