What a completely wretched weekend in South Louisiana sports! LSU gets dominated by Alabama again. The Saints lose at home to another rookie quarterback on a bad team. The Pelicans are 0 for the season. I lost in fantasy for the first time in six weeks thanks to Delanie “I catch deflections” Walker. Did I mention I had a stomach virus? Geez.
Before we go too far with LSU, I have actually been writing this article for a long time. Since, well before January 9, 2011. If you want to know what I think about LSU’s most recent performance at Alabama, I refer you to the article I wrote after that game. My thoughts have not changed, they have only been affirmed.
In case you do not have my articles on file, here is a quick summary. I wondered if LSU would figure out another path to victory against a top opponent if LSU was not able to apply their normal strategy of dominating the line of scrimmage until the other team wears down in the fourth quarter. In other words, is there ever going to be a plan B?
Four years later, I have the answer. It is a resounding, “No.” LSU fans should understand that a Tiger that has won as many games at LSU as Coach Miles has will not change his stripes. Instead, he will simply try harder to prove his stripes are the best.
By now you have formed your opinion on what transpired Saturday night and what needs to happen in the future. Let me just add some numbers to the fire.
LSU has lost its last 6 of 7 games against the Tide. Three of those games were at home (including the lone victory). In those three games, the Tigers averaged 375 yards and 18 points. In the four games away from Tiger Stadium, LSU has averaged 210 yards and 11.4 points.
For comparison, Alabama has averaged 324 yards and 20.7 points at Tiger Stadium. At home or in the Superdome, Bama has averaged 387 yards and 24 points.
I guess the more interesting conversation at this point is whether LSU will suffer from their typical post Bama malaise or if the Tigers will use the embarrassing loss to get better. My guess is the team will bounce back. An experienced team may fold their tent because they feel they have lost their last chance to win the SEC, and probably a playoff berth. In other words, they take the loss harder. But the key players on this team, are sophomores and juniors that are probably not going to the NFL. They still see opportunity.
The bad news is that even if the Tigers bounce back with a good effort, that may not be enough the next two weeks. Arkansas and Ole Miss are two teams that have given LSU fits recently. Before the year I predicted 10-2, which adjusted to 9-2 after the McNeese cancellation. At this point, I have not seen anything to change my mind.

WE, the American people and its government WILL NOT NEGOTIATE WITH TERRORISTS! This is the official response from our elected leaders. We won’t flitch if someone hijacks an airliner or a cruise ship full of vacationers. This country stands tall, strong and united when a group of terrorists make demands and attempt to impose their will against those in authority. We won’t budge no matter what. We’ve demonstrated our resolve, staying united against extremist groups for more than two hundred years.
That’s right, if you think for one instant we’d bow down to extremist groups then you’ve got some learning to do. No sir, we’re standing tall, united and strong. This nation will never allow those few to dictate to us how we’ll live and work in this great land. That is of course unless these terrorists hold the “trump card”. That “trump card” is of course the threat to delay or cause a hiccup to their football season.
To far too many in today’s America everything comes second to sports. The biggest part of many people’s lives is an uninterrupted football season. In their little worlds football is only second to their religious beliefs. And many times football does come first and above all else. So sad is it to see the Missouri football team’s actions this past week.
Once again we see race being used as the reason for the actions taken. Members of the football team put out a list of their demands. I won’t list them because we’ve all seen them and read about their reasons and so on. I find it disgusting that some feel this is the best way to address many of the issues. The one thing I’m left asking questions about is “Why are their BLACK organizations or groups that are perfectly fine but never an equal WHITE group”?
Student Government President Payton Head and other black students complained about anti-homosexual and anti-transgender attitudes on campus. He commented “For those of you who wonder why I’m always talking about the importance of inclusion and respect, it’s because I’ve experienced moments like this at THIS University, making me feel not included here”.
President Head’s way of governing is to only allow those organizations on campus that he agrees with and all others should be shut down. That’s interesting President Head, only those that think like you should be allowed? Why is this? If you want to include everyone as you say and it’s their right for inclusion then you must also allow those organizations that don’t condone homosexual and/or trans-gender lifestyles.
Let me try to get this right and I’ll use his train of thought, if I find homosexual activities upsetting and disgusting then my way of thinking should be allowed on campus. But on the other hand those that aren’t offended by homosexual activities should be outlawed? He also pointed out a white student interrupted a meeting of the “Legion of Black Collegians” which is a student group for African-American students (no whites). Also later that month a meeting of “Concerned Student 1950” issued a list of demands and it also included a demand that the white student that interrupted the meeting apologize. The group “Student 1950” is a black organization of students that is named in honor of the first year that black students were admitted to the university.
Here’s one group we should also be very aware of; The SEC Black Coaches Association. You won’t find an SEC White Coaches Association. The NFL also has a black coaches association but again no white coaches association. There are many other examples to go into but the main thinking here is there are far too many times when our society “sees” one group as progressive while a simple change of color changes the organization into a racist endeavor.
If we are allowing “Demands” then I’d like to make a couple of demands. First I demand that any school or university getting public funds (Tax dollars) and participating in football and/or basketball begin recruiting more white players. I’m so sick of turning my TV on and not seeing but a very few white players. And here is the $64,000.00 dollar question: Am I being a racist by wanting more white players on college and professional teams?
The reverends’ Al Sharpton and Jessie Jackson will try to brand me a racist. But I’m not since I’m just advocating those athletes that I share a certain skin pigmentation be recruited equally as those that have a different pigmentation.
I can’t close without a few words aimed at a certain player on America’s Team. It’s just absurd that the NFL would allow another woman hater to play in the league. The pictures are horrific. There are multiple bruises around the neck and face along with many on her back. But he’s not all wrong in this case because when it came time for the victim to testify in open court she was a NO-SHOW!
Another case of money talks and sh*t walks. I remember when the “King of Pop” was arrested for being a pedophile and the release of some $7 million dollars kept him out of jail. As wrong as that was the authorities in California couldn’t force the juvenile to take the stand and testify against Jackson so he also walked. So the National Felons League has added yet another topnotch woman beater.
Hardy has changed his Twitter account to “innocent until proven guilty”. Economics has once again kept a criminal out of jail. No way I can top that one… …
Till next week… …
