There are many things I suspected or thought I knew that were confirmed this week.
Confirmed: Bill Belichick has pictures of Roger Goodell in a compromising position.
I am kidding of course, but look at how Goodell handled the Patriots situation. He almost got it right. Suspending Brady, taking multiple high draft picks, and a big fine. The only thing he left out was to suspend the coach that controls everything within the organization. Whoops, Goodell forgot that part.
For the record, I don't think this latest incident hurts the Pats legacy just like the Saints situation didn't tarnish anything they did in their Super Bowl run. But, the Pats have been caught breaking the rules numerous times now and the punishment is almost in line with precedence.
Confirmed: NFL teams tend to be reactive when things don't go according to script.
We have seen that from Ray Rice to the La'el Collins situation. Every NFL team had the chance to draft Collins at some point, trust all the background work they had done on his character, then wait and see if they got a steal. If not, what would have been the difference between that pick and the Saints pick of Khairi Fortt last year in the fifth round? Nothing, except that La'el Collins actually has a chance to be a good to great football player.
Instead, the Cowboys have now improved the best offensive line in football. For the next two years they will have possibly the best offensive line in the last 20 years… the Cowboys!! Argh!!
Confirmed: LSU will go as far as Poche, Lange, and the bats take them.
The great news is that Lange got his velocity back this weekend. With the velocity came the strikeouts, and another dominating performance. I know Missouri doesn't have a great lineup, but neither does Miss. State.
Confirmed: LSU should start anyone in game three and go to the bullpen after two batters. It has been wild how one pitcher will struggle in the starting role one week and then be tremendous as a reliever the next.
Confirmed: Steve Kerr has been the worst thing that has happened to NBA coaches since Latrell Spreewell (you are showing your age if you get that reference).
Let the record show, I loved Steve Kerr as a player, broadcaster, and now as a coach. Still, the wildly successful season the Warriors had after the solid success they had last year has probably led to the firing of Scott Brooks and Monty Williams.
The Thunder have a chance to have a similar turn around with Billy Donovan and a healthy lineup. The Pelicans, on the other hand, simply do not have the quality players on their roster that the Warriors and Thunder possess.
Is a change in coach worth 5 more wins and another first round loss in the playoffs? Probably not. Therefore, the Pelicans better win 8-10 more games next year and make it further in the playoffs, or Dell Demps might be looking for a job next year too.

I’m not one to pump my chest, give a great big ‘ole YAHOO and say “I told you so, but”…
Last week, as I always do, I call ‘em like I see ‘em. I have to admit though my I. Q. is slightly larger than my shoe size and when I called Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady a liar well I’ve got to tell the truth and admit it was a very easy call to make. The hammer hasn’t fallen completely in this “nothing to do about anything” that’s been labeled “Deflate-Gate”.
I do feel that the fines, loss of draft choices and Brady’s 4 game suspension too severe since the author of the report, Ted Wells, didn’t come out and declare that Brady for one knew the balls didn’t meet specs nor did he come out and call Brady a liar. It wasn’t until this past Tuesday that Wells upset at Brady’s agent did come out and claim he found “direct, not just circumstantial evidence to show quarterback Tom Brady knew team employees were deflating footballs”.
My only comment on that is “if you had concrete evidence and FACTS to support your findings then you didn’t do your job properly in not including that evidence in your final report to your employers that paid you a few million dollars for the report”. And that’s where I’m not too sure about this guy, a lawyer, and his findings. You were paid very well and by not reporting all the facts that you uncovered makes me think there’s more to this story.
And one other slight fact that hasn’t been too well reported is that Wells’ law firm does other business with the NFL. If the NFL wanted a slam-dunk, no holds barred and winner take all conclusion to this minute, very minor offense then they should’ve been smart and hired a 100% impartial firm to conduct this investigation. But they didn’t! This does in a small way tarnish some of the findings for me. Simply put there wouldn’t be any need to question the findings of a company that won’t be doing any more business down the road, so to speak.
In a way it’s like the airline industry investigating itself and waiting on Boeing to fax over the report. There’s no way in Hell the company making multi-million dollar jumbo jets would gamble future business by reporting Delta and American Airlines were guilty of bribing members of Congress by paying money under the table. So in court a good lawyer would argue beyond a reasonable doubt… … … …
If I can I’d like to say a quick word to those Saint’s fans that have called me and said that New England should pay the harshest penalties for their violations just as New Orleans had to pay. I can’t agree with your thinking, people. These two cases are 180 degrees apart in their severity. What the Saints did was horrific by no small means. They had coaches paying bounties to intentionally, inflict injuries to opposing players. The coaching staff had hopes these intentional injuries would take players out of the game and some injuries might easily cause a player to never play in the NFL again. Nothing in the history of sports could ever come close to what Greg Williams and Sean Peyton concocted. The proper penalty should’ve been to have the Saints and their only Super Bowl Championship forfeited. Now that’s justice in my world.
I’ll end my commenting on Deflate-Gate simply by saying the attention we’ve had over the past week or so is enough. Brady says he’s going to sue the NFL because he’ll lose almost $500,000.00 per game he site out. What makes this comical is the fact the Patriots will save money against the salary cap next year. The fine will be paid by the team and not by the people who did the deflating.
I’m done with Deflate-Gate, there’s too many important things coming up in the next few weeks that’ll need my undivided attention and I’m done with this little circus… …
Till next week…
